What it means
A 13F is the quarterly SEC filing where large funds disclose their holdings - up to 45 days after the quarter ends. So by the time anyone can read it, the trades inside are weeks to months old. THE ENTITY refuses to blur that: every institutional stance is stamped “detected {date} · quarter ended {asOf}”, where the detection date is when the nightly sweep first recorded the filing and the quarter-end says how old the underlying position actually is. The product never presents 13F data as real-time flow, because the mechanism cannot back that claim. Insider Form 4 filings are different - those arrive within days and carry real transaction dates.
Why it matters to investors
Any service implying it shows you what funds are buying “now” from 13Fs is overstating what the filing can support. Detection-dating tells you exactly what you know and when you knew it - stale data honestly labelled beats fresh-looking data that is not.
