LG Innotek is a Korean component maker best known for camera modules, now pushing into FC-BGA package substrates — the dense, multilayer boards that carry a high-end processor and route its many signal and power connections out to the motherboard. Built on ABF film, these substrates are one of the genuine bottlenecks in advanced packaging, and LG Innotek's move into server- and AI-accelerator-grade substrates is an attempt to enter a supply-constrained, high-value layer.

The hook is scarcity of qualified capacity. FC-BGA substrates for large accelerator packages are difficult to make, dominated by a small set of Japanese and Taiwanese incumbents, and slow to bring online — so a credible new entrant has structural room to win. But LG Innotek is still building position in the segment, and substrates remain a minority of a diversified components business, which keeps its modelled centrality modest even as the end market tightens.
